BUENOS AIRES -- China's Lenovo Group Limited, the country's largest PC producer, said Thursday that it has become Argentina's second largest PC provider, with a market share of 17.3 percent in the second quarter of this year.

This increased presence in Argentina helps create the opportunity for "profitable growth," said Lenovo's country manager Alberto Paiva.

"Lenovo is going through an extraordinary moment in the computer industry. We firmly believe there is much room for long term profitable growth, innovation and success in the local industry," said Paiva in a statement, who is also Lenovo's country manager for Venezuela.

Paiva said the scale of Lenovo's growth will depend upon "correct strategy, excellent products and an effective performance."

Lenovo recently announced that it will set up a new manufacturing line in Ushuaia, capital of the Southern Tierra del Fuego province.

"We have confidence in our business, and it's the time for us to grasp the opportunity to continue delivering outstanding products to our customers," said Paiva.

"Establishing a strong local presence enables Lenovo to offer high quality service to our clients and to reach our goal to be a leader in Argentina," Paiva said.

Lenovo continues to grow in the global market and has become the world's third largest PC vendor in the second quarter, holding about 10 percent of the world market.
