BEIJING - Cremation facilities at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery will be relocated to Beijing's outskirts within five years, a local official said.
The new cremation site will likely be located in the Mentougou district in west Beijing, an official with the city's development and reforming office said Friday at a civil affairs meeting.
The Babaoshan cemetery, however, will stay in the Shijingshan district, the official said.
The official said the relocation is aimed at improving the environment, using land more efficiently and expanding urban functions to the city's suburbs.
