WASHINGTON - Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Wang Jiarui pledged Friday to beef up concrete cooperation between China and the United States.

China and the United States faced broad prospects in enhancing concrete cooperation in various fields and carrying out closer local exchanges and cooperation, Wang, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, said in a meeting with Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper in Denver.

Wang, who is heading a CPC delegation to the United States, exchanged views with Hickenlooper on issues including further advancing China-US relations and strengthening local cooperation between the two countries.

He said China would continue to stick to the policy of scientific development, harmonious development and peaceful development, pursue a mutually beneficial strategy of opening-up, and take part in a more active way in international affairs and play the role of a responsible big country.

Hickenlooper, who took office in 2011, said he hoped China would continue to maintain its development momentum, adding a strong and prosperous China was of benefit to US strength and prosperity.

Colorado hoped to further strengthen cooperation with China's provinces and municipalities in the fields of trade, education, science and technology and energy, Hickenlooper said, adding he welcomed more Chinese firms to invest in the state.
