WARSAW - Head of the Chinese delegation to the United Nations climate talks on Saturday urged developed countries to make clear financing pledges for fighting climate change.

Xie Zhenhua, also deputy chief of China's National Development and Reform Commission, made the statement when commenting on the draft text for the climate finance negotiations.

"On the issue of climate finance, we think the current text is not balanced," Xie told the negotiators.

According to previous agreements, developed countries should provide $100 billion a year to poorer countries by 2020 to help them cope with carbon emissions and adapt to climate change.

However, the promise has been largely unfulfilled, and the issue has become one of the key issues that have been blocking the negotiation process.

"Developing countries have taken a very flexible attitude towards this issue, and have made the biggest possible concessions. However, the developed countries still have not met our most fundamental demands," he said.
