GUANGZHOU - Two people died and seven others were injured after a building collapsed in south China's Guangdong Province, local sources said on Saturday.
The six-story building, under construction at Changyaoling village of Baiyun district of Guangzhou city, collapsed in early Saturday morning, the city's police said.
Xinhua correspondents saw at the scene the walls of first and second floors remained intact, but the floors above them collapsed. The police said that one of the injured is in serious condition.
Residents nearby said that they heard loud noise and felt tremor in the morning. Several residential buildings suffered an electricity blackout afterwards.
Rescue work is under way and cause of the accident is being investigated.
