NANCHANG - At least 10 miners were trapped after a gas blast occurred at a coal mine Friday night in Shangrao county, East China's Jiangxi province.
The provincial coal mine safety supervision department said the accident happened at around 10 p.m. in Yongji Coal Mine, when the miners were working under the pit. The blast toppled down a section of the shaft.
Rescuers are still working on rescue measures to reach the trapped miners.
The owner of the privately-owned mine has been caught for police investigation. The mine's safety production license is under renewal procedure.
