Pingju Opera is a popular folk opera in north and northeast China. A modern Pingju Opera named "My Hulan River" is listed in the "Top Ten Works of the National Fund Program for Excellent Stage Arts".

 A modern Pingju Opera named "My Hulan River" is listed in the "Top Ten Works of the National Fund Program for Excellent Stage Arts".

"My Hulan River" is adapted from China's modern author Xiao Hong's novels "Life and Death" and "the Hulan River". The opera shows the difficult life of the people living along the Hulan River in northeast China. These resilient people bravely rise up to defend their homeland when faced with foreign invasion.

The opera has been collecting awards since its creation. The Top Ten National Fund Program for Excellent Stage Arts is for the works of the most recent accolade. The fund program is a government cultural promotion program and the top ten works represent the highest standards of modern Chinese performing arts.
