The inauguration ceremony of the renovated Sichuan Art Museum was held in Chengdu on May 23. An exhibition of arts on Sichuan kicked off the same day and will run through June 13.

According to the museum's incumbent director Liang Shimin, with about 19,000 square meters of building area, the renovated Sichuan Art Museum currently features the largest professional art gallery in Southwest China, collecting works of great ancient and contemporary artists such as Zheng Banqiao, Dong Qichang, Shi Tao, Zhang Daqian and Qi Baishi as well as housing nearly 8000 pieces of printmaking.

The museum is open to public for free from 9:00am to 5:00pm every day except Monday.

Renovation of the museum, which was first built in 1992, took five years.
