1. Five Centimeters Per Second: 8.4

Five Centimeters Per Second was finished at the start of 2007. The film consists of three segments including Cherry Blossom, Cosmonaut and Five Centimeters Per Second, running about an hour all together. The film was awarded Best Animated Feature Film at the 2007 Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

The story is set in Japan, beginning in the 1990s up until the present day, with each segment centered on a boy named Takaki Tono. He quickly befriends Akari Shinohara when she transfers to his elementary school in Tokyo. They bond over their seasonal allergies. However, Takaki has to move one day and loses contact with Akari. They try every means to find each other but it always proves futile. The film ends with their memories of enjoying the cherry blossoms in their innocent childhood.
