LONDON - The Czech Republic was enjoying a hat-trick of Wimbledon triumphs on Sunday when Iveta Benesova teamed up with Austrian Juergen Melzer to capture the mixed doubles title with a 6-3 6-2 win over Mahesh Bhupathi and Elena Vesnina.

A day after Petra Kvitova triumphed in the women's singles and Kveta Peschke won the women's doubles with Slovenia's Katarina Srebotnik, Benesova made it a triple celebration for the Eastern European nation by beating the Indian-Russian fourth seeds in just 51 minutes on Centre Court.

Benesova paid tribute to her partner after winning her first grand slam title.

"I was lucky that he asked me if I wanted to play (with him). He was awesome. I think anybody could stand next to him with a racket in hand and he still would win it."
