Standing at a height of 632 meters (121 floors above ground and five underground), Shanghai Tower, a new landmark in Shanghai's financial hub, Lujiazui, alongside the Huangpu River, is expected to open in mid-2015.

The skyscraper takes up a total area of 576,000 square meters and integrates the multiple functions of office, hotel and tourism, conference, business and entertainment center. It is one of 10 construction projects during the 12th Five-Year Plan for Lujiahui to ease the over-saturated commercial building market.

The tower's observation platform on the 119th floor opened to the media on Jan 20 to offer a look at what Shanghai looks like from its tallest building.
