BEIJING - Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan on Monday said China and the United States should work together to make the most of the Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) as an important platform to create a fair, transparent and stable environment for cooperation.

Wang made the remarks in Beijing while meeting with Co-founder and Managing Director of the Carlyle Group David Rubenstein.

"The third S&ED has achieved fruitful results. The two sides should make the most of it to enhance mutual understanding, control conflicts, and avoid politicalizing economic issues," Wang said.

A week earlier, Wang and US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner co-chaired the economic track dialogue under the S&ED framework. The two sides signed a framework of comprehensive economic cooperation and vowed to build closer economic ties.

Rubenstein spoke highly of the success of the S&ED and expressed his optimism for the prospect of bilateral economic cooperation.

The Carlyle Group is a global alternative asset manager and a private global investment firm.
