BEIJING - Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong said here Sunday that China was ready to promote friendly cooperation with Turkmenistan.

Liu made the remarks when meeting with Turkmenistan's deputy prime minister Maisa Yazmuhammedova, who is on a week-long working visit to China.

She also expressed appreciation of Turkmenistan's support for China on Taiwan-related and Tibet issues, and the combat against the "East Turkistan" terrorist forces.

Yazmuhammedova said Turkmenistan was willing to enhance cooperation with China in areas such as culture, education and media, so as to cement the bilateral friendly cooperation.

Apart from China's capital Beijing, Yazmuhammedova will also visit Shanghai and Shenzhen.
