Kenya's jets kill 30 militants, key commanders

NAIROBI - Kenya's military said on Friday that its fighter jets have killed over 30 Al-Shabaab militants including key commanders in an attack late Thursday in southern Somalia.
Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) spokesman Col. Cyrus Oguna said the attack which took place at around 18:00hrs at Garbarahey in Gedo region Somalia saw scores of the insurgents escape with multiples injuries.
"Yes, our forces yesterday attacked Al-Shabaab camp and killed more than 30 militants, where a meeting was being held. I will provide more information later," Oguna told Xinhua by telephone.
"Initial battle damage assessment indicates more than 30 Al- Shabaab militants killed including key commanders. More than five vehicles and key assets were destroyed," Oguna said.
