Turkey hosts 1.37 million Syrian refugees

ANKARA - The number of Syrian refugees in Turkey has exceeded 1.37 million, according to the statement from Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD).

As of August 2014, some 1.37 million Syrian refugees have arrived in Turkey since Syrian conflict began in 2011. Among them, 220,000 people were accommodated in 24 refugee camps set up in 10 provinces, said AFAD.

About 30,000 Syrian babies have been born in Turkey, said the AFAD, adding that all the newly-borned babies were provided with basic health services.

Turkey has set up 24 camps near Turkish-Syrian border. The AFAD said all Syrian refugees in the camps have been provided with shelter, food and services of health care, security, social activities, education, worship, translation, banking and communication.
