Chinese shares rise for the 3rd day Thursday

BEIJING - Chinese shares gained for the third consecutive day Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.23 percent, or 6.41 points, to end at 2,827.71.

The Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.11 percent, or 13.37 points, to close at 12,423.34.
