Two suspects involved in leaking answers to the 2011 national post-graduate entrance examination have been detained in Siping, Northeast China’s Jilin province on Jan 17, the Jinghua Times reported Tuesday.

On Jan 15, the first day of the exam, a netizen who claimed to be a test taker wrote a post online saying that at some exam venues, there were groups of people selling high-tech machines to send answers to exam takers and guaranteeing a 100% pass rate.

Another test taker in Siping city told the paper she could hear voices coming out from the machine during the test.

The next day, local police started looking into the case, and confirmed through surveillance that there were people selling cheating machines. Two suspects were detained on Jan 17, and further investigation is under way.

Siping Education officials mandated that grading the exams should be halted until the special investigation group completes its work.

"Police and Education Bureau will collaborate on this matter, we will screen every exam paper, and check each test taker’s identification," said Tang Yamin, an official of Siping Municipal Party Committee. "Exam proctors are also on the check list to see if there’s an interest chain between the exam staffers and cheaters."
