Zigong Lantern Festival is one of the most famous lantern showcases in China, embodying the lantern culture. Lanterns made in Zigong have long enjoyed a good reputation.
The numerous colorful lanterns turn night into day. The festival has attracted more than 10 thousand visitors. When visitors smile in front of the various beautiful lanterns, who can deny the charm of the lantern festival in Zigong?
The most attractive lantern groups are the special lanterns made with creativity.
A group of lanterns named "All Things Take on A New Aspect" have been greatly welcomed by visitors. It's the biggest lantern made for this year's festival. Its height is around 30 meters and it occupies more than 1000 square meters. This group of lanterns consists of 12 stone elephants and 800 thousand porcelains, with a total weight of 140 tons.
Another group of lanterns present the legend of Chang-Er, who is the moon Goddess. This group has been placed in water scene to make the legend much more vivid to visitors.
"Splendid! I love the festival so much!" Visitor said.
"It is very creative, for example, the group of lanterns to tell the legend of Chang-Er ascending to the Moon."
During this year's Zigong lantern festival, many LED lights have been used to save energy. It is very environmentally-friendly. Meanwhile, the material used are porcelains and glass to form plates and bowls. They can be removed from the lanterns after the festival and used at home.
The festival runs until the beginning of March.
