The 2011 Annual Conference of the Library Society of China in Guiyang, capital city of Guizhou province, brings together more than 1,300 librarians from home and abroad to discuss various topics such as laws related to libraries, digitization of data, and development of libraries in ethnic areas.

By 2010, China had 2,884 public libraries above the county level, 122 more than in 2005. Governmental investment in public libraries saw an increase of 110 percent in the same period. The two-day conference ends on Thursday.
