Sanctum, a 3D Australian adventure film directed by Alister Grierson and co-produced by James Cameron, will be released on the Chinese mainland on Sept 9, seven months after its US premiere.
The film, shot on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, employs the same 3D photography techniques that Cameron used in Avatar.
It will battle two Chinese films - the romantic comedy Love in Space and the kungfu drama My Kingdom, that premiere on the same day - for box office attention. The film was inspired by co-writer Andrew Wight's cave diving expedition in Australia.
