Comment on "China to build more low-cost apartments" (China Daily, Jan 14)
A wise and forward thinking government should care for its low-income earners. History tells us that it is this group of people that has made the most effort for the betterment of the country.
The government should continue to take steps to improve such people's lives and avoid creating fear and frustration among them by controlling the rising prices of necessities and other goods.
The authorities should not pursue GDP growth at the expense of the happiness of the greater percentage of the population.
