Comment on "Move to ban disposable chopsticks for good" (China Daily, Dec 1)

After the ban on disposable chopsticks is imposed, restaurants will have to clean and disinfect reusable chopsticks properly, or people will have to carry their own chopsticks when eating outside.

I don't think there's anything wrong with plastic or metal chopsticks. They are more environment-friendly because they can be washed and boiled in water to be disinfected thoroughly.

I also think that polystyrene plastic, which is non-biodegradable, pollutes the environment, and something needs to be done to solve this problem, too.
