NANCHANG, Jiangxi province - Chinese Olympic hopeful Liu Zhiguo totaled 699 points to win the men's 10-meter air rifle at the Chinese City Games on Monday.

Liu beat Yu Jikang by 0.3 points for the gold and host shooter Wu Peng took the bronze.

Liu secured his victory in the last shot with 9.9 points despite a catastrophic shoot in the ninth that scored 9.4 points.

"I felt huge pressure. I did not shoot well in the ninth. It is really lucky that I could win the gold," said Liu, who made his name in 2010 after winning the Chinese youth championships.
