China investigates shuttlers' suspicious play

LONDON - The Chinese Olympic delegation has started an investigation into allegations Chinese shuttlers' deliberately lost the group stage of the tournament in London, a spokesman told Xinhua on Wednesday.

"The Chinese Olympic Committee is devoted to promote the Olympic spirit, carries forward the sports spirit of equity and justice, and opposes any kind of behaviors to violate the sporting spirit and morality," the spokesman said.
The Badminton World Federation on Wednesday charged eight female doubles players, two from China, four from South Korea, and two from Indonesia, with "not using one's best efforts to win a match" after two matches ended in controversy on Tuesday night at the London Olympics.
The spokesman said that the Chinese delegation will take further action according to the investigation results.
