Snow Town, mushroom in mountains of Heilongjiang

Many people are amazed by the typical shape of snow here, just like in a fairy tale, or in our childhood crayon drawings. The round snow mushrooms on subs, and snow quilts on top of houses, form an inviting picture.

Located in northeast China's Heilongjiang province, the formal name of Snow Town is Shuangfeng Forestry Center, hidden inside of Xiaoxinganling Range.

Workers here used to live on logging, but since this place captured the attention of some photographers, local tourism is booming. Nowadays, visitors can enjoy authentic local cuisines when sitting on a hot 'Kang' (typical heated brick bed only in the freezing northeast China), while watching the snow-encircled countryside scenery.

Traffic: Get to the Peony River (Mudanjiang) by air, train or bus, and then take the 14:00 shuttle bus to the Snow Town at Peony River passenger station. It is about a 5-hour drive.
