RIYADH - Saudi Arabia threatened on Sunday to recall its diplomats from Iran in case the Islamic republic does not take the necessary measures to ensure their safety.

"The Saudi foreign ministry held the Iranian government completely responsible for the protection of the kingdom's diplomatic missions," Saudi state TV reported.

In March, Saudi Arabia protested over violent acts against its missions in Iran after media reported protesters broke out windows at its consulate northeast of the country.
