Shanghai

The economic center and hub of China's reform and opening-up, Shanghai opens the door for foreigners allowing them to get to know the country’s modernization progress. The World Expo in 2010 improved the city’s international influence and last July the State Council approved Shanghai's free trade zone project which will catapult it to the forefront of global logistics centers, with increasing numbers of foreign leaders including Shanghai on their schedule when visiting China.

Political leaders who have been to Shanghai in recent years are: French President François Hollande, then Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Greece Antonis Samaras, former Icelandic Prime Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir, Prime Minister of New Zealand John Key and Peruvian President Ollanta Humala.
