A total of 30 companies in the city of Xuchang, Henan province, are preparing to go public, an official told chinadaily.com.cn on June 5.

Some of these companies do business in logistics, Chinese medicine, paper-making and manufacturing.

Xuchang already has seven listed companies, such as XJ Electric Co Ltd, says Zhao Xiandong, a publicity official of Xuchang.

Zhao called Xuchang the Wenzhou of Henan. Wenzhou is a city in Zhejiang province, famous for its entrepreneurship.

Zhao said Xuchang has a very good industrial foundation and private companies here are very active.

Xuchang is in the center of Henan, which gives its transportation an edge, he added.

Xuchang has an area of 4,996 square kilometers and a population of 4.58 million. It is perhaps best known for its native son Cao Cao, the prime minister who in 196 A.D. helped Emperor Xian move the capital to Xu, the present Xuchang.
