Kim Jong-il enjoys Chinese dance drama

PYONGYANG - Kim Jong-il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) enjoyed the Chinese dance drama "Confetti on Silk Road" at Mansudae Theatre here on Friday.

Kim Jong-il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of the National Defense Commission (NDC), Kim Jong-un, vice chairman of WPK Central Military Commission, Kim Yong-chun, vice chairman of the NDC and KPA vice marshal as well as minister of the People's Armed Forces, and other DPRK senior officials, Chinese Ambassador to DPRK Liu Hongcai and embassy officials watched the dance drama.

The show, performed by the visiting Chinese Gansu Provincial Song and Dance Theatre, portrayed the friendship forged between the Chinese people and peoples of various countries along the Silk Road in ancient times.

The high artistry, splendid dance won constant applause from the audience. A floral basket was conveyed to the artists to congratulate the successful performance.

The Chinese delegation arrived at Pyongyang on July 7 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the DPRK-China treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance, and was scheduled to leave on July 16.

The drama, which had been staged at the DPRK in 1981, has been performed at Pyongyang and Sariwon City six times during the visit.
