On Nov 4, the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army began purging fake license tags made by copying the Air Force's license tags, with 42 monitoring sites set up around the country.

The Air Force said the copied fake license tags hurt their reputation.

Four road workers were fatally hit at 2:00 am on Oct 30, 2011, in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, by a car with a fake license tag.

The monitoring site of Guangzhou Military Region has found 55 fake tags since 2008.

The Air force also calls on the public to report fake tags.
