Twenty-two still missing in Shenzhen landslide

More than 900 people have escaped a fatal landslide in an industrial zone in Shenzhen.

In a press conference, local authorities confirmed that twenty-two people, 17 males and five females, are still missing. a total of 22 factory buildings from 15 companies were buried in the accident.

According to the local government, four people were rescued from the rubble, with three suffering from minor injuries.

The landslide took place at 11:40 am on Sunday in an industrial park in Guangming New District located northwest of Shenzhen with a population of 110,000.

In 2014, the district registered more than 22,000 enterprises and 125 high-tech companies.

It took about 30 minutes for the mud to slide down from a nearby hill, allowing plenty time for survivors to escape.

Seven fire engines and 194 firefighters were sent to the site when the accidents took place.
