China and Thailand will co-hold a forum on the preservation of traditional craftsmanship on June 11 — China's national Cultural Heritage Day — in Suzhou, Jiangsu province.

On the event co-organized by Ministry of Culture and several Thai companies and royal family-supported foundations, two countries' practitioners and experts will explore channels for creative methods to protect intangible cultural heritages and better usher them into modern lifestyle.

According to Ma Shengde, who is in charge of protection of intangible cultural heritage under the ministry, the attempt will lift a curtain for better promotion of Chinese traditional craftsmanship overseas via regular mechanism.

"For a long time, our promotion of intangible cultural heritage mostly attracted overseas via performing arts on stage," Ma said.

"But, traditional artisans lack equal attention. They need to be better known by overseas and their products will find new ways enter foreign families' daily life."
