Respect for law needed

Comment on "Teen shot dead near school in S. China" (China Daily, Oct 28)

I have been living in China for four years and have frequently gotten into discussions with Chinese citizens about the lack of respect shown to police officers. Many police officers don't do much to help their own image, though.

Unless people start respecting police, this sort of senseless killing will only get worse. It is a shame to see tragedies like this.

Considerably safe country

Please don't blame the whole country on the basis of just one or a few vicious incidents. Every society has its share of good and bad and such incidents can happen anywhere in the world.

I have been working in China since 2005. And although I have faced some small problems, I would like to say that China is a considerably safe country.
