LONDON -- China made history on Saturday after taking its 90th gold medal at the London Paralympics, refreshing its previous record of 89 golds at the 2008 Beijing Games.

The 90th gold was clinched by Xue Lei in men's 100m-T11. Xue, 24, crossed the finish line in 11.17 seconds.

At the Beijing Paralympics in 2008, the host country dispatched 332 athletes to compete in all 20 sports, and set a record of winning 89 gold medals. For London 2012, China sent in 282 athletes to compete in 15 out of 21 sports.
