GENEVA - The US envoy said on Tuesday that the two-day direct talks with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) were "positive" and "constructive".

"We've had some very positive and generally very constructive talks and I think generally constructive talks with the DPRK delegation," US Special Envoy for DPRK Policy Stephen Bosworth said in a brief statement delivered in front of the US mission in Geneva after the conclusion of the talks.

Bosworth said the two countries have narrowed their differences on several points and explored differences on others, declining to disclose the details.

Admitting that there are still "many differences not all of which can be overcome quickly", Bosworth said he was confident that with continued efforts the two side would reach a reasonable basis of departure for formal negotiations for return to the six party process.

The two delegations would stay in touch through DPRK's mission in New York, said Bosworth.
