S. Africa condemns terror attack in China

CAPE TOWN - The South African government on Friday condemned in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack which took place at a railway station in Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region in Northwest China.

In the attack on April 30, three people were killed and 79 others injured.

"The South African government condemns all forms and manner of terrorism. We believe that terrorism in any form and from whichever quarter cannot be condoned," the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) said in a statement.

The South African government sends its deepest condolences to the Chinese government and the people, and in particular to the families of the deceased and wish the injured speedy recoveries, the statement said.
