The 2015 Vancouver International Boat Show attracted many attendees from the Chinese-Canadian community.
The show was held at both BC Place stadium and Granville Island Maritime Market and Marina from Jan 21-25.
Presented by the Boating BC Association, western Canada's largest boat show featured 250 exhibitors presenting the season's most popular yachts, engines, electronics, marine accessories and gifts.
According to Amanda Liang, M&P Chinese yacht sales manager, about half of the orders came from local Chinese and customers from China. Liang said two Chinese customers ordered two yachts with a value of $3 million and $1.4 million, respectively, on Jan 23.
Although the Vancouver yacht market is still dominated by local Canadians, there has been increasing participation from Chinese customers over the past few years. Chinese customers also have contributed to the growth of boating lessons and yacht clubs in Vancouver.
