BEIJING - A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said on Wednesday that China and Africa should find ways to deepen bilateral agricultural cooperation from a strategic perspective.
Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks when addressing the opening ceremony of a China-Africa agriculture forum.
The ruling parties of China and African countries shoulder the responsibilities to push forward China-Africa agricultural cooperation, as the two sides shared the common mission of properly handling food safety issues and realizing sustainable agricultural development, Wang said.
He said the two sides should make efforts to explore ways to achieve all-round agricultural cooperation, and take pragmatic measure to realize tangible results.
The forum, which will conclude on Thursday, gathers about 400 representatives from political parties, government departments and enterprises from China and Africa.
Jointly organized by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Agriculture, the forum focuses on new opportunities and challenges for China-Africa agricultural cooperation.
