Plunging into love's troubled waters
Guo Jingjing, diver

Rumors that diving sensation Guo Jingjing and her tycoon boyfriend Kenneth Fok have broken up appear to be wide off the mark. The Olympic athlete went to Hong Kong earlier this week for a promotional event and was captured on film meeting up with Fok and looking radiant.

This could have been due to the effects of plastic surgery as much as the bliss that naturally attends love, as a number of media sources have been claiming that Guo has had surgery to her chin, to make it pointy, and also an eye-widening operation.

Guo and Fok were seen returning to her hotel room, which kind of puts to bed rumors that he has been seeing a Taiwan TV host behind her back, and she has been dating a "mystery man in black" behind his.

Sounds complicated? Love often is.

Guo has confirmed she will not compete in the upcoming Asian Games, in Guangzhou. When asked by one reporter whether she would get married soon, Guo answered a little too frankly: "Whatever I say, reporters don't report it truthfully, so I might as well shut up."

You can bet on Jay Chou making the news at least once a week, but this time it's for all the wrong reasons. Southern Metropolis Entertainment Weekly is saying the megastar has a gambling problem and on a tour to Singapore last month he gave full vent to his passion for a wager by visiting two casinos.

According to a "gambler" interviewed by the paper, Chou lost NT$47 million ($1.5 million) in two days and "didn't even frown". The report continued that Chou turned for help to a rich Taiwanese businessman and they agreed to work on the Pandamen movie together.

Now, good reader, you know what a board meeting is.

Hong Kong's Gigi Leung is being "comforted" by the grandson of Salvatore Ferragamo, founder of the famed Italian footwear brand, after ending her relationship with a Frenchman known only as "Sly."

The 34-year-old singer-actress had been with Sly for four years and cited cultural differences, including her mom's objection to having a foreign son-in-law, as the reason for their fallout.

James Ferragamo is known as "Italy's Tom Cruise" and the pair was spotted dining and cozying up to each other after Leung did a promotional event for the company. A black, plunging V-line dress she wore for the activity clearly made a big impression.

Finally, heartthrob Huang Xiaoming is getting a reputation for having an "artistic temperament" and this would have been polished further by his failure to turn up in Taiwan to promote the TV drama, Summer's Desire.

The reason for his no-show, according to Southern Metropolis Entertainment Weekly, is that Huang was upset about being upstaged by co-star Peter Ho. Fans of the acting pair are now waging a war of words with each side claiming their idol is better than the other.

Sad, but true.
