Dongfeng Yueda Kia Sportage R

The sports-utility vehicle made at Dongfeng Yueda Kia, a Sino-Korean joint venture was launched last week, priced between 164,800 and 249,800 yuan.

The Sportage R has two engine options: the 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter.

The 2-liter version is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission, and produces maximum power of 163 hp and peak torque of 194 Nm. Its average fuel consumption ranges from 8.3 to 9 liters every 100 km.

The 2.4-liter version with a six-speed automatic transmission has maximum output of 174 hp and top torque of 226 Nm. It consumes 9.5 liters gasoline every 100 km.

The model is 4,440 mm long, 1,855 mm wide, 1,660 mm high and has a 2,640 mm wheelbase.

The company expects to move 10,000 units of the Sportage R in the remaining months this year.

In the first nine months, Dongfeng Yueda Kia delivered a total of 238,000 cars, a 52 percent increase over the same period last year. The joint venture aims to sell 330,000 cars this year, compared to about 240,000 in 2009.
