A recent investigation by the public security organ of Zhejiang province has shown that most of the public heroes live a difficult life. This is one more reminder that the legislative process has to be expedited to enable heroic figures to lead a decent life, says an article on southcn.com. Excerpts:

Governments at all levels have always encouraged righteous behavior by honoring people who stand out for their righteousness with public titles. But these titles are far from enough to help people who have made great sacrifices to eke out a healthy living.

The condition of heroic public figures who used to be the sole breadwinner of their families is especially pathetic. In many cases, they are left to fend for their families and themselves. The life of public heroes who are left physically challenged is worse.

Although governments at all levels have intensified efforts to honor such noble and selfless figures. The help offered to such people are rather limited. Generally, heroic figures only get an honorable title and a humble sum as reward.

These people can seek certain types of aid, but more often than not most of them do not fulfill the high criteria needed to apply for them. Therefore, governments have to expedite the legislative process to ensure our public heroes get the life they deserve. How can society encourage righteous behavior if the most righteous among us end up living a life of misery?
