Index reveals investor pessimism

The confidence index of Chinese securities investorshit a 2013 bottom in June with 45.1 points, according to the latest survey released by the Securities Investor Protection Foundation, China Securities Journal reported.
The index for June was 17.24 percent lower than May and 0.88 percent lower than the same period last year.
The index ranges between zero and 100.
A reading lower than 50 shows pessimism.
The report showed that the investors were quite disappointed with the global and national economic situation.
The index for domestic economic fundamentals was 13.3 points lower than May at 36.5 while that for domestic economic policy dropped 13.4 points from May.
The slow recovery of the global economy also revealed pessimism with a reading of 28.8, 13.4 points lower than May.
