Chinese shares close higher Monday

BEIJING - Chinese shares closed higher Monday, as the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index increased 0.98 percent, or 19.90 points, to end at 2,059.39.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 1.56 percent, or 124.93 points, to 8,137.77.
