Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co Ltd secured 11 percent of the world's shipbuilding and ocean engineering orders in the first half of this year, leading domestic shipbuilders, sources said.
On Wednesday, Shanghai's first self-elevation drilling rig underwent marine trials and is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2014, the Shanghai-based newspaper Jiefang Daily reported.
Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding currently holds 10 self-elevation drilling rig orders despite a broad downturn in the global shipbuilding industry.
