A travel fair opened on Aug 30 in Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei province, as the local government moved to promote its tourism industry.
The 18th North China Travel Fair, a three-day event, is expected to see 3,000 contracts signed between travel agencies at home and abroad, with the amount reaching 250 million yuan ($40.8 million), the organizing committee said.
More than 100,000 residents will visit the fair for travel information.
Almost all domestic provinces and 21 foreign countries and regions, including major tourist destinations such as Russia, Germany, and the United States, attended the event.
During the fair, representatives from those places will provide various tourism services, including recommendations of tourist destinations and related products like motor homes.
As the host city, Shijiazhuang has invested 390 million yuan to improve the scenic-spot services to help the world know more about the city, said Liu Qingwei, the deputy manager of the city's tourism bureau.
