BEIJING -- German car maker Volkswagen will recall 272 vehicles imported to the Chinese mainland due to defective fuel pressure lines, China's quality supervisor said Thursday.
The recall will cover imported Audi S6 and Audi S7 models with A8 engines manufactured between Aug. 22, 2012 and Aug. 2, 2013, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said in a statement.
Due to defective design, the fuel pressure lines may, in extreme cases, break and lead to fuel leaks, according to the statement.
Authorized Volkswagen dealers in China will contact affected customers and replace the faulty parts for free, the statement said. Owners of the vehicles can also contact authorized dealers for free maintenance.
