DUBAI -- China's biggest provider of information and communication technology Huawei said here on Wednesday it has been awarded the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award 2013 in the service category.
The award was given to Huawei at the seventh annual Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Awards 2013 held at the holiday and conference resort Madinat Jumeirah on November 13.
In an e-mailed statement, Huawei said it had been recognized for "applying business best practices, robust CSR initiatives, and contribution to economic development in the United Arab Emirates."
"The UAE is an important and strategic hub for the region's ICT industry, with Huawei proud to be able to share our global expertise in support of local partners, customers and the public," said Peng Xiongji, the general manger of Huawei UAE.
He added that as Huawei was working to enrich life through communication, "we thank the Dubai chamber of commerce and industry for this recognition and remain committed to upholding the values of business excellence while supporting the communities in which we operate."
Huawei has entered into alliances with telecom operators in the Middle East such as the UAE's first telecom provider Etisalat, for consultancy services, the e-mailed statement added.
Highlights of the enterprise business groups deployments within UAE include a forthcoming contribution to the development of the Etihad Rail project, the first railway line in the UAE as well as collaborations with groups like Abu Dhabi-based Tawazun in the UAE in creating a secure network environment to support the growth of UAE's industrial manufacturing and technology capabilities in the defense sector, according to the statement.
