"We should no longer assess a cadre simply based on growth of GDP (in his region)."
President Xi Jinping said on Saturday officials should no longer be assessed merely by their record of boosting the economy. Xi, also the Party chief, said the Party should adopt more comprehensive criteria for judging its officials. It should consider a local official's work in various aspects including people's livelihoods, the development of local society and the quality of the environment. He made the remarks at a meeting on personnel resources.
