Zhang Haichao, a migrant worker in Henan province who had chest surgery in 2009 so samples of his lungs could be tested to prove he had black lung disease, speaking to Qilu Evening News on Monday after undergoing a lung transplant. Zhang developed the debilitating disease from exposure to dust in the three years he worked for a fireproofing material manufacturer. After seeking compensation for years, Zhang was paid more than 600,000 yuan ($98,000) by his former employer.
