San Francisco: Rock solid Pete Stanek, president of Global Alliance, sits on a memorial rock bench at Sonoma State University (SSU) on Aug 30. The bench, to honor victims of the Pacific War (1931-45), will be installed on Sept 14 as an addition to SSU's existing grove which features a sculpture honoring holocaust and genocide victims. Joining him is his wife, Jean Bee Chan, who is chairwoman of the Rape of Nanking Redress Coalition. The Pacific War is also known as the Asian Holocaust. About 35 million civilians were killed, and an estimated 300,000 women became sex slaves.
